An inland dry port where export cargo is customs-cleared and containerised before moving to a seaport.
ICDs such as Tughlakabad (Delhi) and Sahnewal (Ludhiana) have customs on site. Exporters far from the coast can clear and stuff containers at the ICD, and the container then moves by rail or road to a gateway port such as Mundra or Nhava Sheva on a through bill of lading.
