Duty Drawback

A refund of customs duties paid on imported inputs used to make exported goods.

What is Duty Drawback?

Indian Customs pays drawback either at All Industry Rates notified per tariff item or, if the exporter applies, at a brand rate based on its actual duties. The claim is made through the shipping bill and paid to the exporter's bank account.

The US also has a duty drawback programme, for duties paid on goods that are later exported or destroyed; the term means the same thing in both countries.
