Certificate of Origin

A document certifying the country where the goods were made.

What is Certificate of Origin?

Non-preferential certificates of origin are issued in India by export promotion councils and chambers of commerce. Preferential certificates are used to claim lower duty under a trade agreement.

On India–USA shipments

India and the US have no free trade agreement, so there is no preferential certificate for US shipments; a buyer may still ask for a non-preferential one, and US marking rules require the country of origin on the goods.
