The parties named on a bill of lading: who sends the goods, who receives them, and who to tell on arrival.
The shipper is usually the exporter; the consignee is the party entitled to the goods (or "to order" of a bank under a letter of credit); the notify party is told when the cargo arrives, often the buyer or its customs broker.
